The Shadow Minister for Aged Care, Anne Ruston, who has been holding the Government to account over aged care reforms and the release of the Aged Care Taskforce Final Report, has been dropped to second place on the Liberal Party's South Australian Senate ticket.
It's believed the top three spots on the ticket will be winnable at the next Federal Election. The top spot was won by backbencher Senator Alex Antic and third spot went to Senator David Fawcett.
In February, questioning by Senator Rushton in Senate Estimates revealed key information about workforce, such as that the aged care sector will be short 6,000 RNs when 215 care minutes per resident per day come in, including 44 delivered by RNs, on 31 October 2024.
Senator Rushton was one of 10 women appointed to new Liberal Leader Peter Dutton’s first Shadow Cabinet.
