SATURDAY is business: The cost of living is biting deep in retirement villages

In the Federal Election issue of SATURDAY, President of the Association of Residents of Queensland Retirement Villages, Judy Mayfield, starkly revealed what is happening in villages she visits. 

“We have the situation in villages people are struggling to pay their fees, and as a result are not eating or are concerned about using electricity. Cost of living increases are biting deep and really are the same as those in the suburbs. I doubt whether this situation is discussed with the operator,” Judy said.
