HammondCare CEO Mike Baird, the former NSW Government Premier from 2014 to 2017, has reportedly rejected the opportunity to return to politics.
Mr Baird became CEO of HammondCare, a leading provider of health and aged carer services, in August last year. He was reportedly sounded out by Prime Minister Scott Morrison to contest the seat of Warringah at the next election, which could be called later this year.
The seat was held by Liberal Tony Abbott from 1994 until he was toppled in 2019 by Zali Steggall, who ran as an independent.
Mr Baird was the NSW MP for Manly before he retired from politics in 2017.
NSW Liberal royalty, including Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his wife Jenny, attended the funeral of Mr Baird’s much loved and respected mother, Judy, at the Bairds’ Anglican Parish church, St Matthews, on The Corso in Manly, on Monday.
