Consumers are waiting less than one month to receive a Level 1 Home Care Package (HCP), according to the latest Home Care Packages Program Data Report for the first quarter 2023-24.
It’s the second consecutive quarter that a wait time of less than one month has been recorded.
The longest wait times are for Level 3 Packages, with a 6-9 month wait for consumers to receive the level of care they have been assessed as needing. By contrast, Level 2 Packages have a 3-6 month wait and consumers are waiting only 1-2 months for a Level 4 Package.
Level 3 Home Care Packages, which deliver $39,000 per annum for ‘intermediate care needs’, were the most commonly approved in the September 2023 quarter, making up 39% of all Home Care Package approvals.
Those waiting on a Level 3 Package make up 59% of consumers without an interim Home Care Package.
