Melbourne-based aged care provider MiCare has announced the appointment of Jos van de Ven to the position of Chairperson, replacing Ignatius Oostermeyer, who was with MiCare for 24 years, including 14 years as Chairperson.
Jos has been a board member of MiCare since 2017, also donating his time to MiCare's Finance Audit and IT committees. Prior to that, Jos was on the board of the Netherlands Retirement Village Association of Queensland from 2010.
Jos has a 45-year career as an architect and project manager, and has overseen the development of tertiary education, institutional, residential, and commercial building projects of various sizes and value.
Jos also led the Brisbane Eisteddfod for 25 years and has recently retired.
Under Ignatius’ leadership, the organisation changed its name from DutchCare to MiCare. It merged with the New Hope Foundation in 2015 providing services to refugees and asylum seekers, and the following year merged with Dutch retirement village Prins Willem Alexander Village.
Under Ignatius’ leadership, MiCare developed 741 apartments, undertook the Avondrust Lodge redevelopment, incorporated greater cultural diversity, developed Community Advisory Committees, managed the group's COVID response, and worked towards eradicating family violence.
MiCare, which specialises in care for migrant communities, operates residential aged care, home care and retirement living services.
