Home care and veterans' services provider TPG Aged Care, which is based in Kingsley, 20km north of the Perth CBD, had its systems hacked, reportedly by affiliates of cybercriminals LockBit.
A spokesperson for TPG Aged Care told The SOURCE, "TPG Aged Care experienced a cyber incident in mid-September which resulted in unauthorised access to some data on its servers and the exfiltration of some approximately 65GB of its data."
TPG Aged Care was listed on the gang’s darknet leak site between 3 and 7 October, with the listing, “Today we are posting here the new company, ‘TPG Aged Care’,” Cyber Daily reported.
“Below you can find some screenshots just as an illustration of the type of data that was downloaded. When the timer finishes counting down you can find the links with all downloaded sensitive data in this post," they said.
The deadline provided was 24 October, but no ransom figure was provided, The incident was reported to the Cyber Security Centre and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
The operator's systems' security has been restored.
In 2020, ASX-listed Regis Aged Care was hit by a ransomware attack, and some information was released publicly. Since then, Regis has made significant cyber investments, including in 2022-23 completing a cyber maturity assessment to identify areas for improvement.
In 2020, Anglicare was also hit by a ransomware attack, as was UnitingCare Queensland in 2021.
