Michael Lye, the Deputy Secretary, Ageing and Aged Care, and Nick Morgan, Assistant Secretary, Support at Home Reform, with the Department of Health and Aged Care (DoHAC) have new jobs in the public sector that will shift them away from aged care, only months before significant reforms are scheduled to be implemented.
Michael has been appointed to the role of Secretary of the Department of Social Services, effective 11 December 2024, by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
He held senior roles within the Department of Social Services between 2013 and 2019, before taking on the Deputy Secretary role with DoHAC.
Michael has maintained a high profile in the aged care reform process, representing the Department before the Senate Inquiry into the Aged Care Bill 2024.
He is also Deputy Chair of the Aged Care Transition Taskforce.
Nick has also had a high profile in the sector as one of the key architects of the Support at Home reforms. He appeared during the Senate Inquiry and regularly fields questions during Support at Home webinars.
Nick is taking a period of extended leave, a spokesperson from the Department of Health and Aged Care told The SOURCE.
From January 2025, he will move into the new role of Primary Care and Workforce Reviews Taskforce with the DoHAC.
Jasmine Snow is now Acting Assistant Secretary, Support at Home Reform, with the DoHAC.
Michael's replacement has not been announced.
