Yarra Ranges Council has named the providers that will take on their meal delivery, transport and social support home care services, after previously announcing in 2022 it would cease delivering home care services.
Benetas will take on the delivery of meals through a Lite n'Easy subcontractor, and will continue to include a welfare check when the client is home.
EV Strengthening Communities, Bridges Connecting Communities Limited and Healesville Interchurch Community Care Inc (HICCI) will take on transport services.
And Bridges and Tabulam and Templer Homes for the Aged (Accent Home Care) will take on the social support group services.
The changes have been communicated to clients by phone call and a follow-up letter.
"During these phone calls some clients have asked for some clarity on the service but we have not received any complaints at this point," a spokesperson for the Council told The SOURCE.
In 2022, we reported that VMCH and MiCare were taking over the council’s Domestic Assistance, Individual Social Support, Personal Care and Respite Care services, and Uniting AgeWell was taking on the Property Maintenance and Home Modification services.
In recent years, dozens of Victorian councils have made the decision to quit home care, but since reforms to the Commonwealth Home Support Program were extended to 2027, some have made the decision to continue delivering the highly valued services.
