The Not For Profit retirement living and aged care provider is launching a Build To Rent development with Melbourne-based Nightingale Housing in Marrickville, in Sydney’s Inner West.
Designed by SJB, Nightingale Marrickville will have 54 affordable teilhaus, or micro apartments.
The Teilhaus (German for 'part of a house) is about cracking the door to a new housing future. It looks to prove that small footprint housing has to be part of a sustainable, elegant housing solution in our cities.
It will be built 150 metres from Marrickville train station.
Fresh Hope Communities CEO Daniel Dwyer told The SOURCE it had been a five-year journey.
“All housing continues to be a challenge. Being able to deliver this affordable housing project on a feasibility basis was only possible in this instance because of the long term ground lease available to us from our parent organisation, Churches of Christ in NSW and ACT,” Daniel said.
Tenants will have access to a café and community art and recreation spaces on the ground floor, communal spaces such as outdoor terrace spaces and garden, laundry, recreation areas and off-street parking for cars, bicycles and motorcycles.
Fresh Hope Communities feel Nightingale Marrickville cultivates belonging, and critically, will relieve some of the rental stress faced by people living in Sydney.
The first of two information sessions will be held online via Zoom on Wednesday, 21 February, at 6.30pm. At this session Nightingale Housing will introduce the project, the project team, key dates, and information about eligibility and the ballot process. At the second session, the design, floor plans and pricing will be explained.
