“If you’re not building a care element into your retirement living, you’re becoming irrelevant”

With clubs needing to diversify their revenue stream, building retirement living accommodation on available land or redeveloping the entire site to include independent living apartments with a new business partner, is a win-win situation.

The club is usually given a portion of revenue generated from the multi-storey block of over-55s independent living units and a decent proportion of the people living in the homes will regularly spend money at the club.

Stephen Abolakian, Co-Managing Director & Head of Development at property developer Hyecorp;
John Innes, CEO of property investor Pariter, and
Derek Smith, St George Bank’s Registered Clubs Specialist, joined
Chris Baynes, CEO of DCM Group, in the latest Leading Conversations at the Wharf, to look at how clubs are changing the face of retirement living in NSW.
