New Zealand operator Metlifecare will return to the South Island with a new premium village on a 5.42-hectare site in central Wānaka.
The NZ$200 million project will comprise around 120 independent villas and 17 apartments plus a premium care centre, said Metlifecare CEO Earl Gasparich (pictured), who spoke at the LEADERS SUMMIT 2022 earlier this month on the “New Zealand model” of aged care and retirement living.
“We are on an exciting journey of growth and transformation, and this move back into the South Island is a significant step forward to increasing our geographical footprint,” he said.
Construction is set to begin in late 2023, with the first stage open to residents in 2025.
