Making land lease residents pay rates is ill-conceived

A Labor MP is leading calls for land lease community residents in Port Stephens, north of Sydney, to be made to pay rates – a move that sector heavyweights have labelled as farcical.

Land lease advocates are pushing back against calls for residents to pay rates, pointing to the benefits that these communities bring – including the opportunity for seniors to downsize and free up housing for younger generations.
