Desperate times: private developers look to affordable housing to de-risk their projects

The Federal Government is throwing money at affordable housing in a bid to reach its ambitious housing targets – and private developers are lining up as the cost of development renders their projects unviable.

For many Community Housing Providers (CHPs) and Not For Profits that develop affordable housing, the odds remain stacked against new developments.

Formerly the CEO of Stockland’s retirement living business, Stephen Bull is currently the Chair of Bridge Housing, a CHP with over 3,500 social and affordable homes across Sydney.
