Sandra Khan helps residents in retirement villages receive care.
When residents move into one of Amana Living's sixteen lifestyle and retirement villages in Western Australia they are advised it is independent living. Home care is available but it is not straightforward – because it is not freely available as a Government-paid package.
"In Western Australia, most, if not all of the Home Care Providers have books closed because the Home Care Provider grants are fully utilised. That means a person might need home care services, but the ability to secure government-funded home care services is limited or rationed. We, and other providers offer private services, but that's not an option for everyone due to the cost,” CEO Stephanie Buckland told SATURDAY.
