The devil is in the detail: home care operators caught off guard by 10% care management cap

The jury is still out on whether the Government’s announcements around the new Support at Home program will be a hit or a miss after the Government revealed it would cap the cost of care management for care recipients at 10%.

Home care operators are facing an anxious wait for the release of new pricing caps in November with fears that a 10% cap on care management fees could have a significant impact on the financial sustainability if the cost is not captured in the pricing of the new Home Care Packages.

The Albanese Government already capped fees for care management at 20% of the package level, and package management fees at 15%, and banned home care exit fees from 1 January 2023 after concerns that providers were overcharging care recipients.
