APOLLO CARE: the ‘war machine’ saving smaller, distressed facilities in regional communities

With few aged care homes being refurbished – and even fewer new aged care beds being built – country Australia is facing a desperate need for homes to stay open and expand to meet growing demand.

Much of the challenge to success in regional areas comes with the ability to attract a permanent workforce – and avoid a high bill for agency costs. Yet a small number of operators appear to have cracked the secret, led by Apollo Care.

In a sector where more than half of regional aged care facilities are operating at a loss, Apollo Care is proving that you can make a profit in country areas, with its EBITDAR rising by 28% in the 12 months to September 2024 and an EBITDA of $13,500 per bed – higher than the StewartBrown benchmark.
