With the age of residents in land lease communities rising – and the financial model incentivising them to stay – land lease operators are facing an ageing cohort seeking community and support services. Founded by Walter Elliott, Palm Lake Resort were the first to pioneer residential aged care alongside land lease with seven aged care facilities now under their belt – and they are also making a difference within their communities.
Walter’s son Scott Elliott now runs Palm Lake Group, which has a portfolio of 27 land lease communities across Australia’s East Coast. In 2021, the operator launched a resident meal voucher system to try and help create a community – and it works.
The deal is for one voucher offer per week for residents living at its communities and includes a two-course meal at lunch or dinner.
