With few new aged care beds being built across the country and more Australians seeking to age in place, demand for models that offer alternatives to traditional residential aged care continues to grow – cue NewDirection Care.
With a vertical development still in the plans, the innovative MICRO TOWN® model established by Natasha Chadwick in 2012 is proving that its solution can better support older Australians – and existing homes can be redeveloped to deliver the model.
Launched in late 2017 at Bellmere, 50km north of Brisbane, to provide care for people with complex care needs including younger onset dementia, NewDirection’s MICRO TOWN® features 17 houses plus a corner store, café (both pictured), cinema, hair salon, barber shop, music room and wellness centre with gym, spa, dental and GP facilities open to residents and the public.
