The online support worker platform has launched a partnership with Autism Explained, an educational website that helps parents create a support environment for autistic children.

The ‘Autism 101’ training will be provided on the Mable platform by Autism Explained co-founder Paul Micallef, who has lived experience with autism spectrum disorder, and will be aimed at helping support workers better understand autism which affects an estimated one in 40 Australians.

Autism is also one of the most common disabilities experienced on the Mable platform with 27.67% of job posts seeking autism support.

The training program involves nine modules of virtual education delivered over 90 minutes, covering topics including ‘gaining a holistic person-centered understanding of autism’, ‘managing anxiety and meltdowns’, ‘removing barriers to socialisation’ and more.

It is just one of over 100 courses available to Mable workers on its Learning Hub.

The new program follows launch of Mable Community Grants, a philanthropic arm that will provide grants between $5,000 and $20,000 annually to individuals and organisations developing projects that promote inclusivity and independence for people with disability and ageing Australians.
