Nicola Roxon steps down as Bupa’s Australia and NZ chair

The former health minister has stood down after five years with the company, first as a Non-Executive Director and then as Chairman since November 2017.

“With Hisham El-Ansary in place as chief executive, now is an appropriate time for me to leave,” Ms Roxon (pictured) said.

Mr El-Ansary was appointed as CEO earlier this year from his role as Bupa’s Chief Financial and Strategy Officer after current CEO Richard Bowden stepped down after almost 20 years with the company.

Ms Roxon will be replaced by New Zealand business leader Bryan Mogridge (pictured below), who has served as a Non-Executive Director for Bupa since 2013. Mogridge is regraded as the leader of the NZ wine industry into world markets through his leadership of Montano Wines.

Roxon retains her position as a Non-Executive Director for the Victorian land lease developer Lifestyle Communities.
