Uniting NSW.ACT takes on Amaroo Aged Care for “mission”

1 min read

Not For Profit Uniting NSW.ACT has taken on Amaroo Aged Care (pictured), a small operator in NSWs Riverina, about 680km southeast of Sydney.

The transaction took effect from 1 December 2023.

Earlier this year, Uniting NSW.ACT was approached by the Department of Health and Aged Care about Amaroo Aged Care, which appointed administrators several months ago.

Uniting NSW.ACT has agreed to take over the operations to ensure the service can continue.

“By investing in these services, our aim is to support people who wish to remain in their local community, and to evolve and enhance the presence and deep legacy that Amaroo Aged Care has established,” said Uniting NSW.ACT Director of Seniors Services, Saviour Buhagiar.

The entity Berrigan District Aged Care will continue to be in administration, with SV Partners as the administrators. The aged care services themselves have transferred to Uniting and as such are no longer owned by an entity in administration.

At DCM Group's LEADERS SUMMIT, held in May earlier this year, Uniting NSW.ACT CEO Tracey Burton said the organisation has imposed a "capital freeze", referring to a stop on building new residential aged care homes.

However, the group's "missional focus" means "we are always willing to (where it is sustainable) ensure local communities do not lose their existing RAC/RV provider", a  Uniting NSW.ACT spokesperson told The SOURCE.
