The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) has issued a notice to Anglicare saying that it must “demonstrate to the Commission that the serious risk to care recipients at the Service has been effectively addressed”.
The operator must also immediately appoint, at its own expense, an independent adviser “to ensure the safety and well-being of care recipients”, and report regularly to the Commission with a 5pm Thursday deadline given for compliance.
Anglicare CEO Grant Millard issued a statement shortly afterwards to acknowledge the regulatory action.
“Since the outbreak, we have had generous support of providers in the Aged Care sector, including Commonwealth and NSW Governments, and various agencies,” he said.
“While the outbreak at Newmarch House has proved very challenging for all involved, the situation has substantially improved,”
“We will continue to collaborate with key stakeholders as we work through the continuing challenges in the coming weeks.”
