Developer approved for 402 Build To Rent apartments in Melbourne’s Docklands

Melbourne-based developer Samma Property Group has won approval for a $250 million Build To Rent development in the city’s Docklands.

Designed by architect Fender Katsalidis, the 31-storey tower will comprise 402 BTR apartments alongside community facilities, parking spaces, bike storage, and food and beverage facilities; in total, it will feature 26,913 square metres of residential space.

The developer describes the building as “a visually expressive tower to mark the end of the Yarra’s Edge”.

“A location that boasts a waterfront lifestyle, engages with both city and neighbourhood scale and a building that celebrates its community by providing an eye-catching, cantilevering beam,” Samma Group wrote on its website.

Build To Rent has been growing in Melbourne, with Mirvac opening its LIV Munro site near the Queen Victoria Markets last year in a challenge to traditional retirement village operators in the city.
