The insatiable demand for retirement living has been starkly shown to The Weekly SOURCE in a chat DCM Editor Lauren Broomham had with RAAFA WA CEO Michelle Fyfe (pictured).
Created for air force veterans, the 400 independent living units in a seven-storey building is open to everyone needing quality aged care and features two residential care centres, gymnasium, indoor pool, tennis courts and the renowned RAAFA Club at Bull Creek in Perth's inner south suburbs.
Michelle said it had a waiting list of 600 people, which it had to cut off. When asked to explain the insatiable demand, Michelle said:
"It's reputation and word-of-mouth because we don't do a lot of marketing. We really have to live up to that reputation and the standards that we have set,” Michelle said.
RAAFA on Stirling, which will have 63 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments over six levels, is being constructed. The $55 million project is scheduled for completion in July 2025. The building is Stage 6 of the RAAFA Air Force Memorial Estate master plan redevelopment and replaces the former Sivyer, Harris, Fraser and Ingram buildings.
