‘A lot of other golf clubs looking at Pariter’s retirement village proposal for our club’

The State Significant Development application for Pariter’s $160.3 million project for Cumberland Golf Club in Greystanes, 25km west of Sydney‘s CBD, is nearing assessment.

The designs by architect Marchese Partners I Life3A are for six buildings, between five and seven storeys, with 234 seniors independent living dwellings and a 38-bed aged care facility at the northern end of the club.

As part of the development Cumberland Golf Club will have a new three-storey clubhouse built. There will also be a cafe, consulting rooms and wellness spaces.

Plans stated the development would address the ageing state of club facilities.

“We’re an ageing club in the 60s and its need of significant upgrades and repairs and the development will guarantee we’re still around in years to come,” Club president Denis Clifford said.

“A lot of other golf clubs are looking at (similar proposals) to shore up their future.”

Golf club member Alan Storey said the development would also address a decline in golfing members at the club.

As part of the development, the club’s existing golf course will undergo a reconfiguration to maintain an 18-hole layout for the club’s 2,600 members.
