Anglicare opens Gordon Quarter retirement village in Sydney after redevelopment

1 min read

Anglicare Sydney has reopened its Lady Gowrie Village in Gordon on Sydney’s Upper North Shore, including a heritage-listed mansion, after a six-year redevelopment.

The Burnham Thorpe mansion forms part of Gordon Quarter, the new name for Lady Gowrie Village, alongside 40 retirement living units and the new 107-room Roden Cutler Lodge residential aged care home. The mansion itself has been restored by architect Allen Jack + Cottier (AJC) and Taylor Construction, and contains eight ILUs and clubhouse facilities.

“After a six-year redevelopment to create a dream home destination on the North Shore for over sixties, Anglicare is delighted to unveil this unique village, and welcome residents to Gordon Quarter,”
said Peter Kesby, Gordon Quarter Village Manager (pictured).

“This has been one of our most ambitious redevelopments yet, and we’re thrilled at the results. We think it really challenges the perception of retirement living.”

Anglicare recently completed the seventh stage of its Woolooware Shores village at Tarren Point, Sydney; the proceeds from its luxury retirement villages go to fund its social housing projects.
