The Concept Master Plan & Stage 1 DA for part of the site, 34km northwest of Sydney's CBD, which currently houses seven retirement villages and five residential aged care homes, has been lodged with the NSW Government.

Laurie Boxwell, Anglicare’s Group Executive – Seniors Communities, told The Weekly SOURCE last Thursday the approval granted in September 2022 for 66 independent living dwellings will be built over three stages and has no impact on the State Significant Development.

The Concept and Stage 1 development for seniors housing includes:

  • 595 Independent Living Units of one, two and three-bedrooms,
  • Two residential aged care facilities with 105 beds
  • 10,500sqm of residential community health and wellness
  • Five hectares of landscaped open spaces

Stage 1 works are the demolition of existing buildings and structures within the Nuffield Village and Farrer Brown Court precincts.

The urban design strategy by Smith & Tzannes states Anglicare is enhancing the existing vibrant seniors living and residential care communities, with a plan to create seniors living and residential care communities with low and mid-rise buildings each around a village core, creating a neighbourhood where residents can easily access services and improved amenities.

The redevelopment will be staged over a 15–20-year period to minimise disruption to residents, staff, families and neighbours. The following existing villages are being considered for redevelopment in the coming years:

  • Nuffield Village
  • Farrer Brown Court Residential Care Facility
  • Hopetoun South Village
  • Hopetoun North Village
  • Warrina Residential Care Facility
  • Flinders Village
  • Donington Court Residential Care Facility
