Respect Aged Care redevelops Head Office for rapidly expanding team

1 min read

Respect Aged Care, which recently acquired its 26th aged care home, is renovating its head office in Devonport, Tasmania, about 280km north of Hobart, as it continues to grow.

Respect Aged Care acquired the 1,256msq building, which occupies a 2,165 msq site, for around $750,000 about two years ago, and the Respect team is continuing to work on site while the development is underway, CEO Jason Binder told The SOURCE.

In its early years, Respect operated out of the Eliza Purton aged care home, but moved to rented premises in Ulverstone, 300km north west of Hobart, when the group began expanding

However, it only took 18 months for the operator to outgrow the site. When the Devonport property became available, Respect bought it.

Respect employs 3,500 people across Tasmania, New South Wales, and Victoria.

Many of the group’s management team are based in Melbourne or Sydney, a move that became necessary when the group needed to quickly obtain the skills necessary to run such a large and complex organisation, Jason told The SOURCE.

But most of the group’s processing work, such as payroll and accounts receivable and payable, takes place in Devonport.

With the building built in 1899 and Jason a self-confessed "history nerd", the CEO plans to retain many of the building’s original features, such as the facade.

The development should be complete in October.

In May 2024, Respect Aged Care acquired Lyndoch Living, with a 198-bed aged care home, retirement living units, and local home care services in Warrnambool, south west Victoria. The acquisition will bring the number of aged care homes owned by Respect Aged Care to 26.
