RetireAustralia, which owns and operates 28 retirement villages across QLD, NSW and SA, is expanding its 24/7 nursing, committing to 10-12 bed care bed hubs and support in home to higher acuity.
CEO Dr Brett Robinson (pictured second left), speaking at the RLC conference on the Gold Coast last week said it was important that people were able to age in place and live as much of their life in the same environment.
Residents in RetireAustralia’s new communities will have access to home care and where feasible, the business is also planning to introduce a boutique 10-12 bed higher care environment with Registered Nurse oversight and options for palliative care. 24/7 care staff on site will also enable a higher level of care and support to be delivered to residents within their homes.
“Residents will be able to live their life how they wish and receive the care they need in their home,” he said.
“And we will be able to provide the support they need if they have to step into a higher-acuity environment without them needing to leave the community.”
RetireAustralia Home Care is now offered in 20 of its villages and the provider has plans to introduce home care via RetireAustralia Home Care or a partnership arrangement to its remaining villages in the next year.
The business, owned by Infratil and NZ Super, is also planning to introduce more comprehensive care services within the majority of its new developments.
“Glengara Care offers a true alternative – one that goes beyond ticking boxes of basic care criteria like having your groceries delivered, and instead offers an advanced level of care that supports the whole individual, with an emphasis on maintaining their dignity and independence,” said Brett.
“That means living in an apartment home in a community, rather than just a room, and having freedom of choice when it comes to lifestyle and schedule.
“Glengara Care doesn’t look or feel like a nursing home. It’s a community, but one with support available 24/7 and all levels of care including until end of life.”
