Retirement Living Council seeks members to head six new industry sub-committees

The new-look leadership team of the Property Council’s Retirement Living Council (RLC) wants to improve its advocacy to meet the challenges of an ageing population.

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) states that one in six people are aged 65 or over and by 2066, it is projected that older people will make up between 21% and 23% of the total population.

Daniel Gannon, Executive Director of the Retirement Living Council, is asking members to fill six newly-established sub-committees: Advocacy & Research;  Environmental, Social & Governance; Housing Supply & Affordability; Care & Support Services, Training & Development, and Harmonisation.

“As it stands, the RLC is currently supported by existing specialist roundtables and works together with state-based committees to augment professional development opportunities, deepen networks and provide advice on policy and legislative reforms. More information about roundtables will be provided to members in coming weeks,” Daniel said.

“Given this strong foundation, these new sub-committees are designed to target key areas of industry and policymaking to ensure that we remain strong, contemporary, results-focused and closely connected with parliamentary and public service decisionmakers.”
