Five months after the Retirement Living Code of Conduct was rolled out by the Retirement Living Council (RLC) and Leading Aged Services Australia (LASA) on 1 January, a new provisional registration for the voluntary Code has been released to offer more time to 1,600 villages that have yet to sign up.
Over 600 villages have signed up to the Code since it was released in December 2018 – 18 months ago – including Aveo, Lendlease, Stockland, Australian Unity, RetireAustralia, Bolton Clarke, Oak Tree, IRT, Goodwin, Southern Cross Care WA, Masonic Care WA and Ryman Healthcare.
The RLC’s Policy and Communications Officer – Retirement Living, Patrick Tilley, says the RLC is happy with the progress of the Code, but hopes the provisional period – which could range from six up to 12 months if approved by the Code Administrator, Dr Elizabeth Lanyon, will give smaller operators the time they need to become Code compliant.
