Sector heavyweights appointed to lead the Retirement Living Council

1 min read

Tony Randello, CEO of Aveo, has been elected President of the Property Council’s Retirement Living Council.

Dr Brett Robinson, CEO of RetireAustralia, and Kim Teudt, Executive General Manager Retirement Living for Bolton Clarke, were elected Vice-Presidents.

Aveo has more than 90 retirement villages, RetireAustralia has 28 retirement villages and Bolton Clarke has 29 retirement villages after agreeing to buy McKenzie Aged Care earlier this month.

Tony takes over from Marie-Louise (ML) MacDonald, who retires as Peresident after two terms as national President. ML is the Group CEO of Masonic Care WA.

New focus

Tony said he would work closely with the RLC to quickly develop strong evidence-based arguments about why governments should actively support the development of more accessible and affordable age-friendly communities.

Long-standing concerns about the inequitable treatment of retirement village residents in qualifying for the Commonwealth Rental Assistance (CRA) scheme is high on his agenda, especially as a pragmatic response to the housing supply crisis.

“I am passionate about creating environments  in which residents can become part of a close-knit community where friendships are formed, active living is embraced and support is provided to help them remain independent for as long as possible,” he added.

Retirement Living Council Executive Director Daniel Gannon welcomed the election of Tony following his own recent appointment.
