Anglicare Sydney appoints Evelyn Horton as Board Chair

The Board on Monday announced Evelyn Horton FAICD, its first female Chair, after an extensive external and internal search process.

Evelyn, the Commissioner of Superannuation in Tasmania, a director of the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation, Chair of the Glebe Administration Board and a member of the Standing Committee of the Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney, has served on the Board of Anglicare Sydney since September 2021.

“Evelyn has been a valued member of the Anglicare board, and she is perfectly positioned to support the work of Anglicare now and into the future,” said Anglicare Sydney CEO Simon Miller.

“Her experience in the commercial, government and not-for-profit sectors is a great asset to us, as is her leadership, personal faith and commitment to Anglicare’s vision, mission and values."

Evelyn takes the role of Chair, from 1 August 2024, replacing Greg Hammond OAM who had been in the role for the past eight years. Greg steered the organisation through a period of significant change, which included the formation of Anglicare Sydney with the merger of Anglican Retirement Villages and the Sydney Anglican Home Mission Society in 2016.

Anglicare has 19 aged care homes and 24 retirement villages in Greater metropolitan Sydney.
