Guy Farrands to become Aspen Group Chairman when Clive Appleton steps down after 2024 AGM

The listed affordable housing group said Clive, who is also Chairman of Pancare Foundation, Deputy Chairman of The Gandel Group, and a Director of Perth Airport and Perth Airport Development Group Pty Ltd, intends to retire from the board as Chairman and Director after the AGM on 15 November. He was appointed Chairman of Aspen Group on 7 June 2016.

Non-executive director Guy will be Clive's successor as Chairman. Guy is also a Non-Executive Director at Aspen Parks Property Fund, and a Director at Villa World Management. Previously, he served as Chief Executive Officer, MD & Director at ALE Property Group from 2020 to 2021. He was also the CEO & Head-Corporate Development at Valad Property Group. He was the Chief Executive Officer at Avid VW from 2007 to 2011.

Aspen also announced John Freedman, a Non-executive Director of private aged care group Advantaged Care Group and Not For Profit My Foundations Youth Housing, has been appointed to the Board as a Non-executive Director, effective 25 September. John was formerly CFO of Aveo Group, EGM Finance of Lendlease Investment Management Australia, and Head of Real Estate Equities Research at UBS where he worked for 15 years. 

Aspen, which targets the four million households with income below $90,000 and the people who can only afford weekly rental of $400, saw its profit fall 10.9% to $48.4 million in FY24.
