Shalain Singh launches specialist advisory firm Aged Care and Retirement Living Analytics (ACARLA)

2 min read

The senior adviser is seeking to leverage data-driven insights for aged care and retirement living operators at a more affordable price with the launch of a new analytics advisory and consulting firm for the sector.

As we reported last year, Shalain has established his own healthcare and real estate firm, Arrow Advisory Group, focused on primary care, medical centres, retirement living, residential aged care and hospitals.

He tells The Weekly SOURCE he observed a growing divide in the aged care sector between institutional players who have access to sophisticated data and smaller operators who often struggle with strategic decisions due to lack of data or resources which has led to stalled developments or underperforming facilities.

His response was to launch ACARLA, working with aged care consultant Louise Greene, to provide affordable, competitive, and actionable data to all operators.

The service offers three levels of reports:

  • Basic: Demographic, disease profile, and competitive analysis starting from $300.

  • Intermediate: Insights into potential value uplift or competitive issues.

  • Advanced: Detailed strategies to realise value (up to $3,000 to $5,000).

Bespoke strategic solutions can cover capital deployment as well as where and how to play can also be delivered in consultation with operators.

Operators will be able to use the data to better understand market demand, pricing trends, affordability in their catchment area, and competitive dynamics.

The insights are also aimed at identifying trends in resident needs and improving service delivery – without the high price tag typically associated with consulting in the sector.

Shalain points to the recently announced liquidity requirements for residential aged care operators as an example.

“Operators might think they can easily adapt to these changes, either by upgrading or shifting to Daily Accommodation Payments (DAPs), without fully understanding the competitive impact,” he stated.

“With accurate data on the market in which they have their homes, operators can make informed decisions on how to adjust their operations and services effectively.”

ACARLA will also offer a subscription service so providers can receive regular updates on how their sites are performing.
