300,000+ homes power cut by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred but not this over 50s land lease community

More than 44,000 homes on the Gold Coast still remained without power when Prospecta Utilities CEO Mark Langdon spoke at the LEADERS SUMMIT in Sydney last Wednesday.

He told how Prospecta Utilities’ private wireless 5G network at GemLife Gold Coast ensured residents retained access to broadband services and television, facilitating communication and access to critical updates during the tropical low when all other power was cut in the area, including NBN, when ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred wreaked havoc on Queensland’s Eastern Coast and Northern NSW.

The technology combines a 5G core with mmWave radios, providing internet speeds 550% faster than normal and low latency suitable for advanced applications, including smart city infrastructures and autonomous technologies.

This is coupled with unlimited data and 99.8% network availability.

After a six-month trial, the network was activated last month for 45 homes at GemLife Gold Coast, a $200 million development in Pimpama set to eventually connect 400 residences.

Once fully rolled out, the network is anticipated to deliver 20 terabytes of data monthly via 39 radio access points, offer cloud-based services, and offer bespoke free-to-air television.

In partnership with GemLife and its related companies, Prospecta Utilities aims to extend this technology to 14,000 homes across 30 land lease resorts in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria by 2028.

With households spending up to $495 more on their power bills than they were before Labor won government on a promise to cut electricity prices, further increases of up to 8.9% will occur in July.

Prospecta Utilities can cut power bills. Mark told the LEADERS SUMMIT it can work with established communities, greenfield and brownfield developments.
