The state recorded 439 new COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths all linked to aged care homes on Tuesday.
Premier Daniel Andrews said one is a man in their 70s, one is a man and three are women in their 80s, two are men and three are women in their 90s and one is a woman aged over 100.
The new deaths bring Victoria’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 147 during the 24 hours and the national tally to 232.
According to the Department of Health’s evidence to the Senate committee inquiry, as of Monday morning, there were 657 COVID positive aged care residents and 594 staff (a total of 1,251) across 97 Victorian aged care home, as well as 17 care recipients and 24 staff members across 25 home care services.
339 residents have been transferred to hospital, while 108 aged care recipients have passed away in Victoria as of Monday – 106 in residential care and two in home care.
In total, there have been 142 deaths in aged care services excluding the 11 announced yesterday.
There are now 12,335 cumulative total cases of the virus in Victoria with 1,186 active cases linked to aged care facilities, which Mr Andrews described as “a challenging setting”.
"We’re working incredibly closely with the Commonwealth Government, with the private sector, public hospitals, private hospitals, literally hundreds and-ups of shifts that have been picked up by nurses out of our hospital system, a large team of people working together to provide the best care to those residents and get them what they need when they need it,” he said.
“It is a confronting and challenging set of issues and I am deeply grateful to those staff who are stepping up and doing that important work.”
The numbers come as Mr Andrews announced dramatically increased on-the-spot fines of up to $5,000 for those who breach isolation orders.
In the past 24 hours, NSW recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases, South Australia recorded two and none were recorded in the other States and Territories.

- 135 cases linked to Epping Gardens Aged Care in Epping - five more than Monday
- 110 cases linked to Kirkbrae Presbyterian Homes in Kilsyth - nine more than Monday
- 107 cases linked to Estia Aged Care Facility in Ardeer - one more than Monday
- 89 cases linked to Estia Aged Care Facility in Heidelberg - one more than Monday
- 65 cases linked to Glendale Aged Care Facility in Werribee - ten more than Monday
- 64 cases linked to Aurrum Aged Care in Plenty - three more than Monday
- 64 cases linked to Menarock Life Aged Care Facility in Essendon - one more than Monday
- 63 cases linked to Outlook Gardens Aged Care in Dandenong North - five more than Monday
- 56 cases linked to BaptCare Wyndham Lodge Community in Werribee - one more than Monday
