Another 10 Victorian councils will quit home care from 1 July 2023

10 regional Victorian councils will stop providing home care services from 1 July 2023, claiming the Federal Government’s changes to home care services will make their operations unviable.
The 10 councils to stop providing home care from 1 July 2023 are:
- Corangamite
- Ballarat
- Glenelg
- Bendigo
- Hindmarsh
- Loddon
- Macedon Ranges
- Buloke
- Pyrenees and
- Yarriambiack
From 1 July 2025, the CHSP, the Home Care Packages Program and Short-Term Restorative Care Programme will merge into the new Government run In-Home Aged Care program.
The new model will mean home care providers have to expand their range of services, which is posing a challenge to Victorian councils.
This year’s closures follow 12 closures last year:
- Baw Baw
- Benalla
- Golden Plains
- Greater Shepparton
- Hepburn
- Latrobe
- Mansfield
- Mildura
- Moorabool
- Mornington Peninsula
- Southern Grampians, and
- Yarra Ranges – to exit the sector last year.
