Fast-moving Aurrum looks to future growth on NSW Central Coast

1 min read

The Australian is reporting the private operator is planning to cement its position as one of the fastest-growing aged care providers on the East Coast with over 1,100 operating beds across VIC and NSW.

Its latest opening is its 71-bed Terrigal Drive facility at Erina, and makes it the largest aged care provider in the region with over 500 beds on the Central Coast.

The Group is led by former UBS investment banker David di Pilla, who also chairs the Home Consortium which owns Anaconda, Spotlight and Chemist Warehouse and negotiated the purchase of the old Masters property sites last year for $750M.

Mr Di Pilla’s father-in-law Alex Shaw, formerly the CEO of Royal Freemasons Benevolent Institution, with 21 residential care villages, is also an investor in the Consortium. He and his wife Mary are major backers of Aurrum.

It’s now targeting Victorian growth, opening a 120-bed facility in Plenty, 20km northeast of the Melbourne CBD and another 120-bed facility in Rowville, 27km southeast of the city, later this year.

In NSW, a 57-bed expansion of Aurrum’s 110-bed Norah Head facility is now underway, while its first push into QLD has been made after a greenfield site was purchased in Toowong, 5km west of the Brisbane CBD.

The Group promotes its Planetree model of ‘Person Centre Care’, which is the result of an exclusive partnership with the internationally-recognised Planetree Inc.

A not-for-profit organisation, it partners with healthcare organisations around the world to deliver a 10-point model of patient-centred care that involves residents and their families in all key decisions.
