1 min read

ITeC Academy has been formed by the merger which was completed on 1 July 2024.

Not For Profit Illawarra ITeC Group was founded in 1988 to provide accredited training across New South Wales, particularly in the Illawarra region. It has served businesses, government agencies, disadvantaged job seekers, youth at risk, individuals with disabilities, and Indigenous communities.

IRT Academy specialised in aged care training, becoming a registered training association in 1997. It is a subsidiary of IRT Group, the community-owned, Not For Profit provider of retirement living, residential aged care and home care services throughout NSW, the ACT and South East Queensland, and more than 2,000 employees.

"Our combined organisations have come together to meet the evolving needs of industries such as aged care, construction, trades, entertainment and hospitality," said IRT CEO Patrick Reid in a statement.

"We are committed to scaling rapidly to meet industry demands and equipping individuals with the skills to excel in their chosen fields. Our commitment to quality training and education remains unwavering."

Aged care services in the Illawarra region have been hampered by staff shortages, leading to on average about 90 hospital patients every day waiting for an aged care placement.
