ACCPA launches video campaign to attract new workers to aged care

The Aged & Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA) is seeking ways to attract and retain workers to the aged care sector with a new Discovering Aged Care Careers video campaign ahead of the second intake of its Aged Care Nursing Transition to Practice Program.

Demand for aged care workers is set to double in the next 20 years as Australia’s ageing population grows and increasingly requires support and care in people's own home, in the community, or in residential aged care.

The February intake of the Aged Care Nursing Transition to Practice Program 2023 accepted 125 nurses. ACCPA hopes to attract 200 nurses into each of the May and August intakes.

The video campaign is targeted at school leavers, career changers, people returning to the workforce, and mature people wishing to extend their careers.

ACCPA CEO Tom Symondson said the DACC campaign addresses some of the ‘big questions’ about working in aged care and attempts to bust some myths about the industry.

“We want to show through the DACC campaign that aged care can be an enormously rewarding career with many opportunities to work in different settings. ACCPA, along with aged care providers, is working to make the aged care sector an employer of choice.”
