Anglicare gets the nod for $189M expansion of south Sydney village and aged care site

1 min read

As we covered here, Sydney’s largest village operator plans to build five four- and five-storey buildings with 183 units and a three-storey 48-bed aged care facility alongside its existing 228-unit Woolooware Shores retirement village at Taren Point, 25km south of the CBD.

Sydney South Planning Panel approved the project despite some of the new buildings exceeding the 16-metre height restriction for the area by 6.2 metres.

The Council noted that the site was originally the home of the Toyota car factory and because the land included contaminated material, Anglicare had opted to build on top of the existing site rather excavate for basement parking and services – a factor in its decision.

The heights are also still lower than those approved for the nearby Cronulla Sharks Rugby League Club 880-apartment development at the Woolooware Bay Town Centre development.
