Australian Unity opens new RAC home at its Kilsyth, VIC, retirement village

Australian Unity has opened its new Walmsley aged care home in Kilsyth, Victoria, co-located with the Walmsley Residential Community retirement village.

The 120-place home, built on Australian Unity’s “Better Together” model, comprises private ensuite rooms and has capacity for respite care, palliative care, memory support, and ageing in place.

It is designed around a “small household” concept, where each “household” includes 13 to 19 rooms plus kitchen, pantry, dining room and communal areas.

Australian Unity’s Executive General Manager for Residential Communities, Beverly Smith (pictured), told The Weekly SOURCE that the co-located village and home will offer a continuum of care to the local Kilsyth community.

“Better Together is a social model of ageing which encourages connection and community for its member customers, employees, families and friends.

“Walmsley Aged Care joins the rapidly growing number of Australian Unity co-located retirement living and care homes that have expanded Better Together’s footprint to 11 precincts across the eastern seaboard. The 12th continuum precinct at Albert Park Lake in Melbourne will open by May 2023,” she said.
