Brightwater Care Group appoints Catherine Stoddart as its new CEO

1 min read

WA-based Not For Profit organisation Brightwater Care Group, formed in 1898 as the Homes of Peace for the Dying and Incurable, has announced its new CEO will be Catherine Stoddart.

She will replace Jennifer Lawrence, who is stepping down in April, after more than six years in the role.

Catherine was the Deputy Director General, Department of Communities in WA, and was previously CEO of Northern Territory Health. She was awarded the 2011 Telstra Western Australia Business Woman of the Year for strategies to build stronger nursing career paths and the development of Aboriginal employment programmes across the Department of Health. In September 2013, she received the Australian Public Service Medal in recognition of her contribution to health and innovative global community health volunteering programmes.

Brightwater Care Group Board Chair, David Craig, said Catherine had been selected after an extensive search for the critical appointment.

“I am excited to welcome Catherine and I am confident her appointment will support Brightwater’s continued success in the pursuit of our Mission as well as leading the organisation in this time of change,” he said.

Brightwater Care Group provides home care, owns and operates Kingsway Court retirement village and 12 aged care homes; it will also open a 128-bed aged care home with a dedicated research centre and a new corporate office at Inglewood, 5km northeast of Perth’s CBD, in the middle of the year.
