Formerly bankrupt brothers and chicken farm owners Gerry and Chris Apostolatos are being accused of siphoning up to half a million dollars from the aged care business they allegedly help to operate.
We reported here how it was uncovered the brothers were banned from poultry farming for 17 years for starving over a million chickens.
Now both have been accused of serious probity failings, including allegedly siphoning $500,000 from the aged care business to pay for mortgages and luxury cars in 2014, The Age reported.
The brothers used aliases, a family trust and fake directors to hide their participation with Chronos Care (pictured), a Melbourne based aged care provider, for the past six years.
The aged care homes owned by the provider look after a combined 105 residents and have received millions of dollars from Commonwealth funding.
As outlined in the Aged Care Act anyone who has been convicted of an indictable offence or is bankrupt can’t be an approved provider.
