If you want to understand the value that aged care services can deliver to retirement living operators – and vice versa – you need to watch this video of Metlifecare CEO Earl Gasparich from our recent LEADERS SUMMIT.
The New Zealand retirement village sector has proactively led the country and Government to accept open-pricing residential care, creating the most successful village business model in the world.
Around 15 years ago, there were a few aged care beds in New Zealand retirement villages. Today villages account for 67% of all beds; virtually no beds have been built in dedicated aged care homes in the last 10 years.
The signs of a similar system are now beginning to appear in Australia.
At the SUMMIT, we presented this 16-minute video interview with Earl, who leads New Zealand village operator Metlifecare.
He explained the journey, the value proposition, the financials, the customer satisfaction and the penetration today – 14% of all people aged 70-plus now live in retirement villages, up from 6% in 2008.
