There are now 40 NSW aged care homes with active cases of COVID-19. As of 8am on Friday, there were 210 active cases in aged care residents – up 38 seven days prior – and 88 active staff member cases – an increase of two.

Seven more residents died with COVID-19 in the seven days to Friday, bringing the total to 31 since the beginning of this year.

Subsequently, two more residents have died with COVID-19:

  • An unvaccinated man, aged in his 70s from the Blue Mountains, who lived at the Uniting Springwood residential aged care facility.
  • A terminally ill man, aged in his 90s, died with COVID-19 in the aged care home at the Calvary Haydon Retirement Community in Bruce, Canberra. There are 14 cases linked to Calvary Haydon Retirement Community after a staff member tested positive.

Hardi Aged Care’s home in Guildford, 20km west of Sydney’s CBD, has sadly seen four residents die with 45 active cases, the largest aged care cluster in 2021.
