First sod turned at mecwacare’s new Richmond home, Melbourne

The first sod was turned at Not For Profit aged care provider mecwacare’s John Hood Terrace in Melbourne’s Richmond.

The new aged care home is set to be completed in 2025 and is located in the heart of Richmond.

The building will retain its heritage façade, and contain 80 aged care suites over four storeys.

The Commissioner for Senior Victorians, Gerard Mansour, attended the sod-turning event, along with Life Governor and long serving member of the mecwacare board John Hood (after whom the home is named), Chief Executive Michele Lewis, and representatives from builder Total Construction.

This is Total Construction’s second project with mecwacare, while CHT Architects will lead the design.

mecwacare provides home care services, has four retirement villages, and operates 15 aged care homes in Victoria.
