The Not For Profit has plans in the works for two 15 bed interconnected dementia cottages in Scone, roughly 270kms north of Sydney.
HammondCare says plans have been submitted with Upper Hunter Shire Council, with the new cottages intended to be built next to the provider’s Strathearn House facility.
If approved, HammondCare would be able to retire its nearby Strathearn Village facility, which has 46 beds and has been operating since the 1980s, with residents moved to Strathearn House or the new cottages, depending on their needs.
If works are approved, construction could by underway by May 2021.
HammondCare CEO Mike Baird says the Not For Profit is pleased to be able to expand its presence in the region, and in doing so diversify the care options available in the Scone region.
HammondCare says the new home will utilise pre-fabricated modular construction, with a hope to achieve outcomes similar to that at its Miranda site in 2018.
