Home care Quality Indicator pilot postponed

1 min read

The Federal Department of Health has postponed the Quality Indicator pilot for in-home aged care.

The Quality Indicators program – which aims to provide more transparency, and to support aged care improvements – is being expanded across residential and home aged care, in response to the findings of the Royal Commission.

A spokesperson for the Department of Health told The Weekly SOURCE that the home care pilot for the program will be put off, however, in order to accommodate further consultation and design of the Quality Indicators in alignment with the Support at Home Program.

“From July 2023, the new Support at Home Program will replace the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), Home Care Packages (HCP) Program, Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) Programme and residential respite programs.

“Work is underway to expand the QI Program to in-home care, through research, stakeholder and expert consultation, pilot and analysis,” the spokesperson said.

The pilot program will still proceed as planned for residential aged care, and will begin on 21 March 2022 for a period of six weeks; registration is open online.
